Review:

"The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Fourth Season" continues the shenanigans of Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Sheldon (Jim Parsons, in his Emmy-winning role), Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Howard (Simon Helberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar). Both Leonard and Penny are working to get past their breakup at the end of season three. He moves on into the arms of Raj's sister, Priya (Aarti Mann). Meanwhile, Penny wonders if she didn't make a mistake in ending things. Howard and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) are back and stronger than ever as they get engaged, but than must deal with all the bumps along the road to holy matrimony, including parents and self-esteem issues. Poor Raj is left to pine for Bernadette. Throughout the season, Penny, Bernadette and Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) grow closer, their friendship expanding and beginning to mirror that of the men. Unlike past seasons of "The Big Bang Theory", this one focuses a lot on the love lives of the characters instead of just their lives. to be frank, it is disappointing. I found myself missing the quirky nature of the show as it got lost in it's romantic story lines.

Special Features:

There isn't a whole lot offered as special features, though, it's more than previous seasons can say. With a show as clever and funny as this, I had high hopes for the extras. They did not disappoint. "The Big Bang Theory of Relativity: Actor on Actor" is a featurette where the cast members interview each other. There is no way they could go wrong with that premise, and they don't. This extra is delightful and quirky, just like "The Big Bang Theory". "Gag Reel" is made up of the best outtakes of the season, and personally, I would love to see more. "The Big Bang Theory Live" is a behind-the-scenes look at the filming during season four. "Barenaked Ladies on The Big Bang Theory" is a short featurette detailing the series' theme song. We learn how it was written and get a sneak peek into the making of the music video, which is also featured on this Blu-ray package.

Final Words:

"The Big Bang Theory" seems to get more charming with age and it's fourth season charms as well. While it is disappointing to see the visual flaws, it is something most fans won't care about. Fans won't be disappointed here. Also, a huge congratulations goes out into the air for Jim Parsons on his second Emmy win for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series as Sheldon.
