Review:

TV’s most Emmy-winning series comes to anend in its 15th season. The last season of ER, featuring current regulars John Stamos, ParminderNagra, Linda Cardellini, Scott Grimes and Angela Bassett, returns to the feel of the show as it was in thebeginning. The season is considered one of the best in ER’s recent history, repairing damage caused by reoccurring plots and the disruption of Hollywood’swriter’s strike. ***

And of course, as a tribute to the past, we have the return of several ER favorite regulars, including George Clooney, Laura Innes, Alex Kingston, and Anthony Edwards.Surprisingly, these appearances are treated less like cameo appearances; thecharacters return full-bodied and develop alongside the current regulars. The writing has experienced a facelift of sorts, with a fresh new feel to it that ironically comes from digging up storylines in the distant past. The season remarkably manages to avoid a campy reunion feel to it, keeping the present characters and storylines while giving a nod to the past. This final season holds its own against a great legacy, and manages to throw some farewell punches (including a series regular’s death early on). Fans old and new alike are sure to enjoy this last chapter.

Special Features:

The complete season comes with several deleted scenes as well as a featurette looking back on the entire series. Though perhaps the set is a bit short on bonus features, the featurette promises to deliver a sense of nostalgia to long time ER fans.

Final Words:

The final season delivers a worthy goodbye to the long-lived series. Fans of the series would be remiss to pass this one up.
