Review:

Always strange bedfellows on screen to begin with, fiction writing, or rather science fiction meets offbeat cinema in yet another wacky heartland parody from Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre), in Gentlmen Broncos. Likewise in for optical illusion, alternative universe moviemaking, is the weird take that kids can tend to have on the nutty adult world all around them.***

Home schooled and for the most part protected from the assorted insane antics of adults and peers alike out there, even though his kooky mom (Jennifer Coolidge) is on the more than eccentric side herself, Benjamin (Michael Angarano) ventures out into a writing camp to hone his bizarre imagination a bit. But unscrupulously waiting in the wings, are predatory adults with a current dearth of creative gifts of their own, including snobby fantasy novelist, Ronald Chevalier (Jemaine Clement).***

Special Features:

Outtakes Reel: A Buttload of Keepsakes; Five Deleted Scenes; Feature commentary with Jared Hess and Jerusha Hess; One Nutty Movie: Behind The Scenes Of Gentlemen Broncos.***

Blu-ray Extras: Sixteen Mini-Documentaries Featuring The Cast Of Gentlemen Broncos.

Final Words:

Gentlemen Broncos is a lunatic journey mixing grownup and geek underage flights of fantasy that spin out of control in delightfully weird ways on screen. While Clement essentially steals the show as legend in his own mind lovable when not outrageous loon, as Hess mischievously reinvents nearly all existing notions of the kid genre in movies.
