Review:

It seems that we’re not the only one having an energy crisis. There’s another world where Monsters exist living much like us except that they use the energy from scaring children to generate electricity. Sully (John Goodman) and Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal)are the winning team at Monsters, Inc. constantly breaking new records scaring kids in their bedrooms. When Boo a child that Sully tries to scare follows him back from our world, Sully and Mike have to keep quiet; if anyone finds out that a child followed them over from the other side they’ll face nasty consequences. Add to that a conspiracy a foot; Randall a reptile like monster that wants to beat Sully’s record and eliminate the competition appears to be behind a new device that will eliminate the need for the monsters AND generate endless energy. ***

With the success of “Toy Story 2” and “A Bug’s Life” Pixar earned the right to glide along on the good feelings generated by those imaginative, successful films. Instead, they decided to go for a challenging NEW story that avoided the formula that made the first two films successful. While “Monsters, Inc.” isn’t quite as challenging or fun as, say, “Toy Story” it’s still a marvelous, Imaginative bit of entertainment that will appeal to kids of all ages. ---

Image & Sound:

This new edition features a direct digital transfer from the original digital source providing viewers with a spectacular looking, sharp, vivid and detailed transfer. ***

Audio sounds brilliant with a lossless transfer that equals the vivid picture quality. ---

Special Features:

The bulk of the special features are carried over from the original DVD release. The major difference here is a disc with the film presented as a remastered DVD. The other extras include Ride And Go Seek: Building Monstropolis In Japan Go Behind The Scenes Of The New Attraction In Tokyo Disneyland, Filmmaker's Round Table Filmmakers Reflect On The Creation Of The Film, Audio Commentary, Pixar Fun Factory Tour, Banished Concepts, etc. ---

Final Words:

A Pixar classic “Monsters, Inc.” works amazingly well because the makers don’t pander to the lowest common denominator and assume that children are stupid. Adults benefit from this as well and the resulting film is a marvelous bit of entertainment.
