Review:

Nowadays young adults no longer have serious relationships; most partake in simple, no strings attached sex; however, as this film of the same title proves, sometimes what we think will be so simple becomes more complicated than we intended.***

Adam [Ashton Kutcher of “Punk’d] and Emma [continually rising star Natalie Portman] have accidentally bumped into one another over the past 15 years on numerous occasions. Eventually they accidentally bump uglies in Emma’s bed, and decide to make it a frequent accident. Per the usual story the two begin spending more and more time together outside the bedroom; although, Emma insists on not letting their feelings become more serious because she does not have the time or want for a relationship. In fact, Emma wears the metaphorical pants in this friends-with-benefits relationship, not wanting to further their feelings, while Adam acts like a stereotypical girl, aching for a stronger connection.***

Despite Adam’s efforts Emma repeatedly refuses his non-sexual advances. Being so thoughtful as to bring her long-stem carrots versus the traditional long-stem roses, Adam makes other men look ridiculously inferior, while also making himself look ridiculously desperate—but sweet.***

Special Features:

Audio Commentary, Sex Friends: Getting Together, Inside the Sassy Halls of Secret High, Modern Love: The Dos and Don’ts, Deleted Scenes, Alternate Storyline Scenes

Final Words:

The story has been written countless times, and will continue to be performed countless times, and even though the inevitable was long and drawn out, No Strings Attached was very humorous and enjoyable. Not exactly Natalie Portman’s typical movie, it was nice to see her playing a sarcastic character with a man’s point-of-view about sex. Among one of Portman’s recent films—including Black Swan, Thor, The Other Woman, and Hesher—No Strings Attached would have to be the most light-hearted and realistic.***
