Review:

The writers of Private Practice ended season two with a finale that left viewers mind-blowing and shocked, and now the Grey's Anatomy spin-off starts to hit its stride in its third season, which focus on Violet (Amy Brenneman)'s physical, mental, and emotional recovery from an attack by a troubled patient (Felicity's Amanda Foreman), which led to giving her son Lucas to his father Pete (Tim Daly), as the couple must work out a lot of issues between them before finding their way back to each other -- causing tension within the staff of Oceanside Wellness that will stretch the boundaries all of their friendships. Cooper (Paul Adelstein) and Charlotte (KaDee Strickland) is another couple going on and off this season (what's new?) with her joining Oceanside as a sexologist (don't ask, don't tell!), his money problems and her bailing him out, and Charlotte being "too much of a woman" for him. This led to Pete being involved with Addison (Kate Walsh), and Charlotte entering a sexual relationship with fellow shrink Sheldon (Brian Benben, Dream On), who starts to develop feelings for her. ***

Sam (Taye Diggs) and Naomi (Audra McDonald), on the other hand, must deal with their daughter Maya being pregnant and her impending marriage to budding rock star Dink (Stephen Lunsford, Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight). Midwife and young father Dell (Chris Lowell) will endure his own professional and personal trials and tribulations that will test his idealism and his relationships with the staff, but the most important relationship of all: his daughter Betsy. And what about Addison?

She'll be coming to terms with her family history that is full of secrets, lies, and yes, infidelities with guest stars Stephen Collins (7th Heaven) as her father The Captain, who sets sail with Violet, and JoBeth Williams as her mother Bizzy, who's playing for the other team (you know what I'm saying?) PP's third season will feature two crossovers with Grey's with first Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and then Dr. McSteamy (Mark Dane), who bares it all and rekindles the flame between him and Addie as his relationship with Lexie (Chyler Leigh) has cooled down. The season finale will find two couples reuniting and one of them going down the aisle (SPOILER ALERT: PETE AND VIOLET!), one couple hooking up in the end, and somebody in Oceanside not coming back for good. ***

Special Features:

"Kate's Top Eight" featurette/ Blooper Reel and some Deleted Scenes.

Final Words:

Romance is on-call at Oceanside Wellness for the third season of Private Practice.
