"Private Practice: Season 4"
Samantha Isler
Studio: Disney
Release Date:
September 13 2011
Special Features:

Deleted Scenes; Bloopers; An Inside Look

The fourth season of Private Practice is sure to throw viewers in one of its many shocking twists. Addison (Kate Walsh) struggles to maintain a decent relationship with her mother Bizzy (JoBeth Williams), and the family feud takes a turn for the tragic when Addison fails to save her mother's partner. As Addison struggles with her family issues, the rest of her staff fares no better. Amelia Shepherd, played by Caterina Scorsone, faces a relapse and begins coming to work drunk. The real gem of the season, however, is actress KaDee Strickland, who blows the rest of the cast out of the water when her character, Doctor Charlotte King, is forced to work through psychological trauma, culminating in her coming face to face with the man who raped her. The whole season wrenches at the emotions of both the characters and the audience, and the show pulls no punches. The final twist leaves Oceanside Wellness on precarious ground and the audience begging for the next season.

Special Features:

There are only three bonus features included in this box set, and each of them is a bit too short. First we have some Deleted Scenes, and they aren't anything special. The blooper reel is good for a few laughs, but might be a bit short for some viewers. The outstanding feature is "An Inside Look: The Violation of Charlotte King." It explores the development and writing of one of the most infamous episodes of the season and includes actress KaDee Strickland's insights as she prepares for the role.

Final Words:

With an outstanding season that's guaranteed to entertain, Private Practice promises to stay strong.
